Ever felt like you were meant to make a bigger impact in special education? You’re not alone. Everyone who becomes a Master IEP Coach® starts with that gut feeling.
From Classroom Frustrations to Effective Solutions
Imagine this – A brand new teacher, full of hope and ambition, walks into their first special education classroom… only to find it completely empty. No resources, no support, just four walls and a dream. Sound familiar?
That was me, fresh out of college with a shiny degree and a burning desire to change the world. But here’s the kicker – I only lasted a few years in the classroom. Why? Because I realized that to truly make a difference in the way I had been dreaming of since I was 10 years old, I needed to do something different.
My journey began long before that empty classroom. Growing up with a brother who has Down syndrome, I watched my mom navigate the circles of special education. It was that experience that lit the fire in me to help families at the IEP table. This is why I became a teacher, but then something else happened…
The Start of Something Bigger
Fast forward a few years, and I found myself teaching by day and coaching parents by night. Before I knew it, I had a full calendar of clients and a decision to make. Could I really leave the classroom behind? Spoiler alert: I did, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
But here’s where it gets interesting. People started asking me to teach them what I do. At first, I said no. How could I possibly package up years of experience and passion? But in 2017, something clicked. I realized that to create real, lasting change in special education, we needed a community of change-makers. And that’s how the Master IEP Coach® Mentorship program was born.
